Day 3 of week 2 done! I completed this run yesterday, just forgot to make a post last night… 🙂 It’s not getting any easier yet, although I suppose it’s probably never going to be easy otherwise we’d all be fit. 😀 I didn’t push as hard on this run overall as I did on day 2 but it was still an excellent workout. Next weeks runs include some 3 minute runs so I think I’m going to have to keep a closer eye on my speed to keep it closer to 10 minute miles as opposed the the 9 minute miles that some of my intervals have been at the last two weeks. Below are my day 3 stats; I’ll do a separate post for a weekly summary so that my different weeks can be compared.

Garmin Forerunner 305 stats for todays run:
Total workout time, including warm-up and cool-down: 31 Minutes
Average Pace: 1 mile in 12 minutes 21 seconds
Avg Speed/Max Speed: 4.9 mph/ 10.5 mph
Average Heart Rate: 153 bpm
Max Heart Rate: 193 bpm
Total Distance: 2.51 Miles
Calories Burned: 355

I’m happy with my progress so far and am looking forward to the time when I’ll be able to get in 30 minutes, or 3 miles, continuous running. At this point I am just interested in building the stamina needed to run for 30 minutes/5k three times a week and not so interested in weight loss. After I build my endurance I will start to track my weight more closely with a goal of losing 50 pounds overall.

That’s it for this post, see you next Monday! 🙂

Made it through day two of week 2 of the program.  It is still a challenge for me, probably is going to be yet for a few weeks.  Hopefully I’ll eventually catch that runners high I always hear about… 🙂  I made it a bit farther today than on Monday, burned a few more calories as well.  I think I may be pushing myself a bit faster than I should and once the longer runs come in I’m going to try to run those segments at around 10 minute miles.  If I can run at that pace for a 30 minute period of time by the end of the 9 week program that will give me the 5K that I’m shooting for.
Here are the Garmin Forerunner 305 stats for todays run:
Total workout time, including warm-up and cool-down: 31 Minutes
Average Pace: 1 mile in 12 minutes 6 seconds
Avg Speed/Max Speed: 5.0 mph/ 8.9 mph
Average Heart Rate: 152 bpm
Max Heart Rate: 190 bpm
Total Distance: 2.56 Miles
Calories Burned: 372

That’s it for this post, see ya on Friday!

I did day 1 of week 2 of the couch-to-5k program today and found it to be rather challenging. Todays program consisted of a 5 minute warm-up, then 6 repetitions of 90 seconds jogging followed by 2 minutes brisk walking. After that I did a 5 minute cool-down walk and them some good stretching afterward in order to fend of the aches and pains I had after the first couple of runs I did with this program. In my last post I said I was going to take it a bit easier in this weeks run and overall I think I stayed about the same as last week overall. As you’ll see from the statistics that my Garmin Forerunner 305 gave me, I increased and decreased a bit in the different categories I’m keeping track of.

Total workout time, including warm-up and cool-down: 31 Minutes
Average Pace: 1 mile in 12 minutes 23 seconds
Avg Speed/Max Speed: 4.8 mph/ 9.0 mph
Average Heart Rate: 147 bpm
Max Heart Rate: 185 bpm
Total Distance: 2.50 Miles
Calories Burned: 353

After this week is over I’ll compare my weekly averages with last weeks to see how I fared. Next run is Wednesday so I hope to post my results that night.
